Leave an engine blank to exclude it, the score renormalises across the engines you actually track. Default weights are market-share estimates; edit them for your market. "Field mentions" is optional, the total brand-mentions across every vendor in the same responses; fill it to also get your Share of Model.
Add "field mentions" per engine to compute your weighted share of the whole competitive field.
The formula
Engines do not perform uniformly, so pooling them into one average hides the thing you need to see. Visibility is a weighted composite: for each engine, mentions divided by prompts issued, times a normalised platform weight. The score renormalises over the engines you actually track, so skipping two engines does not silently understate you.
Visibility is your rate; Share of Model is your share of the field. Enter the total brand-mentions across every vendor in the same responses as "field mentions", and the tool divides your weighted presence by the weighted field presence. Run a fixed prompt set 8 to 12 times per engine and average before entering counts, single runs are noisy.
How to use it
- Enter mentions and prompts issued per engine.
- Adjust the platform weights for your market.
- Read the weighted score and per-engine breakdown.
Frequently asked questions
Why weight visibility by platform?
Because engines do not perform uniformly, and pooling them into one average hides where you win or lose. A weighted score, normalised over the engines you actually track, reflects the engines your buyers use instead of treating all six as equal.
How many runs should I average before entering counts?
Eight to twelve per engine for a decision-grade Share of Model number (three to five is fine for a quick directional read). AI answers are non-deterministic, so a single run is a sample of size one; averaging smooths the run-to-run variance, and high live-retrieval engines like Perplexity need the top of that range.
Is the Platform-Weighted Visibility Calculator free to use?
Yes. The Platform-Weighted Visibility Calculator is completely free, with no sign-up, no usage limits and no watermark on the output.
Is my data private?
Yes. The Platform-Weighted Visibility Calculator runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or enter is uploaded, stored or sent to any server.
